“Reflections of Thanksgiving: Thanking God for providing good leaders during the last 100 years & beyond”

FAIRVIEW'S PRAYER POINTS ON LEADERSHIP FOR THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the gracious example of your Son, our Saviour and Lord, Christ Jesus,

Who reminded his disciples that those,

“… accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43 But… whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: 44 And whosoever… will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. 45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:42-45 KJV).

❶We pray that our leaders of the Nazarene District in Barbados will always remain faithful to the truth of God's Word, supporting those who do good and are positive examples of godly leadership. We pray that God will help us to honor him through our acts of kindness and hospitality, and to always seek ways to support our leaders in a manner that pleases him in Jesus’ name.

❷We pray that our leaders will recognize and activate the biblical wisdom of succession planning, preparing future leaders using the examples of Moses and Joshua, and Paul's spiritual investment in young leaders like Timothy and Titus. Heavenly Father, we give you thanks for our District Superintendent, Rev. Anderson Kellman, our District Assembly, District Departments, District Committees and Delegates. We pray Lord God that they will always seek to be led by your Holy Spirit as they lead our local Nazarene fellowship here in Barbados.

❸We pray gracious Father, as we reflect in preparation for our centennial celebrations, giving you thanks for one hundred years of your loving ministry within Barbados and this regional space through the Church of the Nazarene, that we do so by celebrating the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Moreover, in thanksgiving of your Holy Word that continues to shine brightly in this part of the region, as well as the ministry that you have given unto us through our leaders, to lead us as you would have us to be led. We also thank you Lord God for each other, for the fellowship of the Nazarene church. We pray that we remain a strong beacon of hope in this region because your Word is truth and life. It is given by your own “inspiration and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16). We also give thanks Daddy God that we can be united in prayer. For it your will that we should “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is your will… in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

❹Father God, we thank you for our former leaders such as our late District Superintendent Rev. Martel Farley. Thank you Lord God for their service to your church and their example of godly leadership which has helped to define the stability and endurance of the Nazarene church here in Barbados and beyond.

❺Holy Father, we pray, should you tarry longer, that your Holy Spirit will raise up in the Church of the Nazarene servant leaders like Joshua, successor to Moses, like Elisha, disciple and successor of Elijah, servant leaders like Ruth, devoted companion of Naomi, servant leaders like Peter and Paul, faithful disciples of Christ, and leaders like Phoebe, a faithful companion of Paul and deaconess of your 1st century Church.

❻We pray, Almighty God, that all members of the Nazarene church will have a clear witness from your Holy Spirit of their spiritual giftings and the ministries in which they are called to serve and be empowered by your Holy Spirit to serve. We pray that the spirit of discipleship and an eagerness to serve will envelop the Church of the Nazarene, especially among the youth of our fellowship.

❼Yahweh-Rapha, we pray that your healing balm will rest mightily upon our leaders―spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally―that they may fulfill their God-given mandate in their generation and this fellowship. Let your divine will continue to be established beyond these centennial celebrations.

Heavenly Father, graciously receive these prayer requests in the name of our precious Lord and Saviour, Christ Jesus. Amen.
